Your Fitness Reset
Hi I'm Jules. Welcome to my very first fitness blog! September is a month of new beginnings, where we can embrace change and set new goals. Just like the trees shedding their old leaves to make way for new growth, September offers us the perfect opportunity to shed our old habits and embark on a journey towards improved health and fitness.
As my boys get ready to start their new term at school, I have found that I have been reassessing my own fitness goals. I have been working with a coach - Dazz Kent (we all need accountability) to change my old habits and that will help me meet my fitness goals.
How am I changing my habits? One tiny habit at a time. The book "Tiny Habits: The Small Changes that Change Everything" by BJ Fogg was recommended by my coach. I listened to it on Audible. The big takeaway from this book is that making small, manageable changes in your behaviour can lead to significant and lasting transformations in your life.
So rather than making the grand sweeping resolutions such as I am going to work out at the gym 5 days a week before I teach my classes. I am starting with just one day a week because that is what I can currently incorporate in my daily routine with teaching classes and doing school runs. And celebrating success when I do it and not feeling guilty when I don't. If anything is going to kill motivation - guilt is!
Revitalise your Fitness Journey
So whether you're a seasoned fitness enthusiast or just starting your journey to a healthier lifestyle, this month is an opportunity for all of us to recommit to our well-being.
Try a new workout, group exercise class or outdoor activity
Challenge yourself to set a fitness goal specifically for September - it could be as simple as walking an extra 200 yards or increasing your weights at your next gym session
Keep hydrated - even with the weather cooling down, staying hydrated is crucial. Carrying a reusable water bottle can help ensure you're getting enough fluids throughout the day
Take advantage of the seasonal produce in September to experiment with new recipes. Try adding more fruits and vegetables into your meals for added nutrition.
Bookending your day: Having a structured morning and evening routine that help you maximise productivity, maintain focus or establish a sense of balance in your life. Practising these habits at the beginning and at the end of your day can help improve your overall well-being and efficiency.
Remember, every day is an opportunity to make positive choices that bring you closer to your fitness goals. As we embark on this September reset, let's embrace the chance to revitalise our fitness journeys. Keep moving forward, stay committed, and remember that the path to a healthier, stronger you is filled with small steps and victories. Here's to a September filled with progress, resilience, and renewed determination! You've got this!
